An excerpt from "The Paper bridge"

Naturally transformation needs leaders. Persons capable of summoning the energy of others and orientating them towards the achievement of common aims.

The leader is a creator of futures. He knows that the achievement of ambitious goals guarantees the survival of the system and its future development and growth.

The managers, overwhelmed by the weight of the whole Company on their shoulders, multiply their actions, but are they correctly aimed?

They assume the principal role in the company and in the middle of the uncertainty and the increasing difficulty of the future; they concentrate in few hands the key responsibilities.

The members of the Company ask for leadership and it is a responsibility of the management to provide it.

So comes the redefinition of the role of direction and the urgent need to rescue the skills of leadership.

"Empowerment" at all levels. The “ Prise en charge ”.

The monopoly of the power in the hands of a few hampers the capacity of the great majority to assume responsibilities, to exercise them, to commit themselves with the obtained results and to create a system of constant improvement of the skills and knowledge which would be reflected in an increasing degree in the contribution of every individual and with it, in the permanent development of the company.

Actually, giving responsibilities doesn’t mean abandoning areas of actual power. It means delegating what can be delegated, that’s all. Getting rid of activities where my added value is irrelevant, and concentrating on actual added value activities. That’s a dramatic transformation, for sure.

The transformation ensures that every employee is a living cell of the managerial organism and acts with full capacity in the development of the function to be accomplished.

This is in contraposition to the traditional vision of every employee as a piece of gear, moved by other pieces, rigid, unremovable and blind all of them.

The survival of the company is a responsibility for all its members. The multiplication of the capacity is born from the utilization of the multiple capacities of all the members.

The flexibility relies on that every cell handles the complexity inherent to its function.
